About Us

Vivo Children's Choir is a group in which young singers develop their vocal skills in a positive and nurturing environment. Auditions are not required and all children are encouraged to participate.  New members join the choir in September or conditionally in January, at which time new music is started.

The Choir is divided into three levels:

Animoso       Grades 2 & 3

Children work and perform repertoire specific to young singers. They are given the opportunity to learn the basics of focus, tuning, good vocal tone and musical phrasing geared to improving their skill level through games and structured rehearsals.

Bravura         Grades 4 & 5

The children are introduced to music that challenges and improves upon the basic skills they have already mastered. This enables the choristers to sing with confidence in two to three parts, as well as giving them the opportunity to experience and learn from different performance settings.

Concento     Grades 6 to 8

The young musicians continue to gain skills and confidence and are introduced to the next level of musicianship.  The music selected builds on their growing abilities and often includes several parts in different languages.  They gain experience through the opportunity to participate in choral festivals and in small groups for the yearly concerts.
